Madame has the longest fingers (original title: La notte è fatta per… rubare , alternative title: Help, the legacy sneaks come and The night is… there to steal ) is an Italian-Spanish crime comedy from 1968 by Giorgio Capitani . The script was written by Marcello Fondato and Antonio Navarro Linares . The leading roles are cast with Catherine Spaak , Philippe Leroy , Gastone Moschin and José Calvo . The film was first released on March 23, 1968 in Uruguay. It had its premiere in the Federal Republic of Germany on July 26, 1968.

The old jeweler Chevalier from Monte Carlo makes a dive into the wonderful Mediterranean and - never shows up again. He leaves behind a valuable property, as well as a young widow, a nephew in need of money and three old aunts, in short: a community of heirs in which envy and resentment blossom in abundance.
But before the jeweler gives his time, he does something that makes the situation much more difficult: He buys an unbreakable safe, so to speak, the safest safe in the world. However, the insurance companies cannot be interested in such a safe safe, because no one else insures themselves with them, and neither can the safe-hackers, because otherwise they are in danger of becoming unemployed. On the other hand, the safe's production company is doing everything possible to popularize its product. Therefore, in this film, each interest group chases the other: the manufacturing company the gangsters and vice versa, the insurance companies the old aunts, who in turn the police and vice versa, the nephew the widow, the widow the nephew and so on. The end is open.
