occupation

The son of Jesse James (original title: El hijo de Jesse James ) is a spaghetti western from 1964, which was created in a Spanish-Italian co-production. The German-language premiere took place on June 6, 1966.

action

Bill James is still a child when his father Jesse is murdered by his uncle Bob Ford. Twenty years later, having become the image of his father, he rides away from his home in Missouri to finally let the events of the past rest. He finds work as a cowboy at the Three Star Ranch, but he cannot enjoy a quiet, orderly life for long, as the farm and its inhabitants, especially the pretty Dorothy, have suffered greatly from the harassment of the cattle farmer Bob Marshall. The first encounters between Bill and Bob bring no rapprochement, on the contrary: Bill, suspected of murder, has to flee. The thought develops in him that Marshall could be his uncle. He is looking for confirmation of his suspicion; when he finds her, he returns to town and judges Bob Ford.

criticism

The critics were not very friendly with the “average” work; R. Tabès said that true film lovers would rather stay with their father than with their son, because here there is only a “false west full of swindle and trash”. Even the evangelical film observer does not believe in the film: "Westerns rich in corpses and superficial, to be clearly rejected for young people and also not recommended to adults."

Remarks

The Italian title of the film is Solo contro tutti . The gross profit in Italy was 107 million lire .

The exterior shots were taken in Valdetorres , Uceda, Calatayud and Mina .
