The Riverview Carousel is a Grade I listed carousel in Six Flags Over Georgia amusement park near Atlanta . It went into operation for the first time in 1908.

History and technology

It is a classic horse carousel with 56 show jumpers, 14 stationary horses and four carriages in five rows. The horses, the wagons and the carousel building are made of wood. The Riverview Carousel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places . The Philadelphia Toboggan Company (PTC) made it in 1908 for the German Sharpshooter Park in Chicago (later Riverview Park). The architects are Leo Zoller, Gustav Weiss and others, the model number is PTC # 17. After Riverview Park was closed in the late 1960s, the carousel in Six Flags over Georgia was reopened in 1972 and has been part of the Cotton States Exposition since 1973.

Movie location

The carousel can be seen in the Bud Spencer film The Big One with His Alien Little One. The alien played by Cary Guffey drives it in the amusement park, which is deserted at night.
