Sandokan - The Tiger of Malaysia is a 1976 mini television series based on adventure novels by Emilio Salgari , which is about the Malay pirate Sandokan, who opposes British colonization by James Brooke , the first White Raja of Sarawak.

action

In the 19th century, Sandokan, the last survivor of a ruling family, fought in what is now Malaysia as a pirate with his loyal followers against the English, especially against the unscrupulous James Brooke, who is responsible for the murder of his family. Sandokan leads a pirate life on the island of Mompracem and fights against the colonial masters. His loyal companion is the Portuguese Yanez de Gomera. Because of his love for Marianna, the niece of the representative of the East India Trade Company , Lord Guillonk, Sandokan runs the risk of being caught by the English several times. After several unsuccessful attempts to kidnap Marianna - with her consent - it finally succeeds. They get married and live happily together for a year, and more and more people are joining Sandokan. Then cholera breaks out on Mompracem and kills a large part of the population. In an attack by the English soon afterwards, the island is conquered and Marianna dies. Sandokan manages to escape with Yanez de Gomera and continues sailing as a pirate.
