Kabir Bedi ( Hindi : कबीर बेदी Kabīr Bedī ; born January 16, 1946 in Lahore , British India ) is an Indian actor .

Life

After completing his history studies in 1972, Kabir Bedi moved to Bombay . He worked as an actor in the theater and made commercials. He made his film debut in Hulchul in 1971 and quickly gained a foothold in Hindi films . He has appeared in well-known films such as Seema , Kuchhe Dhaage and Ishq Ishq Ishq .

In 1976 he became known to the public in Europe. Bedi played the title role in the Italian-French-German miniseries Sandokan , a pirate and freedom fighter. In 1979 he received the golden Bravo Otto due to his popularity in Germany .

Despite his success in the film business - roles in the James Bond film Octopussy and in the television series Rich and Beautiful followed - he remained loyal to the theater. Most recently, he was at the Shaftesbury Theater in London in the role of Koda Dad in Palace of the Winds .

He has appeared in over 30 Hindi films, for example as a Mughal emperor, or most recently in the Bollywood box office hit, which is also successful in Germany, I'm always there for you! as a general.

With his first wife, to whom he was married from 1968 to 1973, he had two children, a daughter and a son. This son suffered from schizophrenia and committed suicide when he was 28 years old. His divorced wife was killed in a landslide. Bedi and his second wife have their son Adam, who is also an actor. Kabir Bedi is now married for the third time. His wife is the actress Nikki Moolgaoker.

German dubbing voices

Kabir Bedi did not have a permanent voice actor. However, it was cast with well-known dubbing voices, such as B. with Joachim Kemmer (standard voice from Humphrey Bogart ) or Wolfgang Hess (standard voice from Bud Spencer ). Honors

The Italian government ennobles the actor by awarding him the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 2010 and giving Bedi the glorious title of Cavaliere (Knight) “Al Merito della Repubblica Italiana”. The “Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana”, founded in 1951, is the highest honor that can be bestowed on a civilian in the Italian Republic.
