Sergio Sollima
Sergio Sollima (born April 17, 1921 in Rome ; † July 1, 2015 there ) was an Italian film director and screenwriter who also worked under the names of Simon Sterling and Roger Higgins III.
Life
After a few spy films still under the pseudonym Simon Sterling , Sollima directed three spaghetti westerns with Tomás Milián in the 1960s : The Hound of the Sierra Madre (La resa dei conti) , Face to Face (Faccia a faccia) and Run for Your Life (Corri, uomo, corri) - the so-called Cuchillo trilogy . As a young, rebellious man, Milian has various father characters at his side in these films.
Sollima's films are often shaped by a social worldview and often use the contrast between rich and poor.
After turning to crime films, in the late 1970s he shot the Sandokan television series with Kabir Bedi in the lead role, as well as another corsair film with the same actor.
His son Stefano Sollima (* 1966) is also a film director.
Sergio Sollima died in July 2015 at the age of 94 in Rome.
