content
Commodus succeeds his father Mark Aurel as Roman emperor . He also likes to work incognito as a gladiator . As such, he has no mercy on his opponents either. To defeat the Christian hero Ursus , he has his fiancée kidnapped and threatens to destroy Ursus' home village. In order to save his own, Ursus accepts the challenge of facing the supposed gladiator in the arena. Little does he suspect that the emperor's political opponents from the Roman Senate manipulated his weapon to kill Commodus. When the attack fails, the raging emperor sets troops on the march against his opponents. The senator's son and officer Septimius Letus, who leads the rebel army, can defeat the emperor with the help of Ursus. He ascends the throne as Emperor Septimius and peace in the empire returns.
criticism
"Children cannot be expected to use the catch passages, adults are not expected to pay the entrance fee."
"A gladiator film like three dozen others."
“The peak of the film junk mountain is reached when Ursus pulls a watchtower and personnel out of the ground. Conclusion: foolishly costumed catchers on every corner. "
