José Greci

José Greci (born February 10, 1940 in Ferrara as Giuseppina Greci , † June 1, 2017 in Rome ) was an Italian actress .

life and career

Greci, the daughter of a journalist and television writer, studied drama at the Accademia nazionale d'arte drammatica from 1956 . She had her first film role in 1959 as Maria , the mother of Jesus, in the classic film Ben Hur by William Wyler ; however, she was not mentioned in the credits for this performance . She gained greater prominence in Italian cinema in the 1960s and often played several leading film roles a year. She appeared particularly often as an attractive leading lady in sandal films or spy strips with actors such as Gordon Scott , Steve Reeves and Sergio Ciani , although she was also led under pseudonyms such as "Cordin Davis", "Liz Havilland" and "Susan Paget". In addition, Greci also played in some television productions.

In the early 1970s she largely withdrew from the film business; Most recently she was in front of the camera in 1985 for a television film. She was the long-time partner of the author Dino Verde .
