The Revenge of the Red Knight (Alternative title: The Cavalier with the Hundred Faces ; Original Title: Il cavaliere dai cento volti ) is an Italian adventure film by Pino Mercanti from 1960, with Lex Barker in the lead role.

action

The noble knight Riccardo d'Arce returns from the Spanish war to his homeland, where he was once exiled from the land of Duke Ambrogio Di Pallanza because his mother spurned the duke. He donated a golden amulet to the chapel of St. George, which he had wrested from Count Fosco Di Vallebruna in a tournament, whereupon the Count had the piece of jewelry stolen and Riccardo d'Arce took it from him again. Shortly afterwards, the noble knight begins a romance with the ducal daughter Bianca, who is also desired by the count. He maintains a close friendship with Ciro, the duke's son, which is why he asks him to bring the amulet back to the chapel. Ciro is attacked, robbed of the amulet and murdered. Riccardo d'Arce, who was accused of being a perpetrator, was forced to go into hiding.

Later a tournament is held, the winner of which is to get the duke's daughter as wife and all of the ducal property. Since the Duke is now convinced of Riccardo d'Arce's innocence, his squire, who pretends to be his master, is admitted as a fighter. To Bianca's great dismay, the squire is seriously injured, whereupon she leaves the event. When the noble Riccardo d'Arce finally arrives at the tournament, there is a final duel between the noble and Count Di Vallebruna. The count puts on the golden amulet, is defeated and convicts himself of the murder of Ciro, which brings him the rope. Bianca, who is deeply desperate about the supposed death of her lover, wants to plunge into an abyss, but can be saved by Riccardo d'Arce at the last moment.
