Wolfgang Eichberger

Wolfgang Eichberger (* 1911 ; † June 1963 ) was a German actor , radio play and voice actor .

Life

Eichberger, a trained theater actor, appeared in Veit Harlan's The Immortal Heart for the first time in a film in 1939 . It was not until the 1950s that he was seen again on the big screen, including in the three fairy tale films Zwerg Nase (1953), Hansel and Gretel (1954) and Little Red Riding Hood (1954). In 1955 he played the role of the father of Fred Halbenstein, who married the daughter of the leading actor, alongside Winnie Markus , Curd Jürgens and Bernhard Wicki in the drama Du mein stilles Tal . A year later he was also in the comedy film A Man Doesn't Always Be Nice to see alongside Peter Alexander . In 1959 he made his last film, the literary adaptation Alt Heidelberg with Sabine Sinjen , Christian Wolff and Gert Fröbe .

Between 1949 and 1963 Eichberger was mainly active as a voice actor. As such, he lent his voice to Charles Laughton ( Under Suspicion , 1944), Randolph Scott ( The Death Canyon of Arizona , 1950), Ernest Borgnine ( Damned For All Eternity , 1953), Peter Finch ( Battleship Graf Spee , 1956) and Lex Barker in ( The Death Eye of Ceylon , 1962). In addition, it was often used in radio play productions, for example between 1957 and 1961 in three of the legendary Paul Temple radio plays by Francis Durbridge .

Eichberger, who was married to his colleague Franziska Stömmer , died in June 1963.
