Tedeum - Every blow a paw (original title: Tedeum ) is a spaghetti western with a comedic plot, which Enzo Castellari staged in 1972. It was approved by the censors in Italy on November 21 of this year and received its German-language premiere on May 17, 1973.

action

The Manure family lives in a half-ruined hut, whose members Tedeum (born during a worship service), grandfather Stinky and father Rags and Ma insult and beat each other - their kind of affection and love. Through an uncle they come into possession of papers for a gold mine, which are considered worthless. Tedeum tries with all means, supported by Betty Brown, to turn the papers into money. The windy Mr. Grant acquires it for a ridiculously low price, as he tries to get some really profitable ones through the management of the mine. Even the fake Father Jackleg, on whom a lot of bounty is exposed under his real name Buck Santini, has his hands in a game of confusion, in which everyone tries to cheat everyone when it turns out that the mine is profitable. All together end up in a penitentiary, because the well of the prison holds the entrance to the said mine.

criticism

The lexicon of international films certifies that director Girolami is more capable than a "western comedy, obviously shot with the left hand, in the unimportant burping and whipping style." Christian Keßler writes very negatively that the film is "a complete blow job that does exactly that wrong what the nail in the coffin was for numerous other genre persiflage. He doesn't even begin to take his story seriously and exhausts himself in the soon exhausting series of hectic comedy situations. ”The Italian critics also found little satisfaction in the“ Spaghetti Western with Iberian sauce ”, whose“ coarse caveman humor has seldom made a good product ”. The tasteless religious title was also perceived as problematic.

Remarks

The original title refers to the Christian hymn of praise .

The English language distribution title, The Sting of the West , refers to the original of the film The Clou .
