Christian Keßler

Christian Keßler (born August 8, 1968 in Bremen ) is a German film critic , author and film producer .

Life

Keßler studied German and English in Göttingen and Oldenburg . He has been working as a freelance film journalist since his student days. Keßler was best known for his articles on genre films and filmmakers in the magazine Splatting Image . He interviewed numerous filmmakers from this field and wrote books on Italian horror and western films, which are popular among fans because they are out of print, standard works. The Runner Screen, a book about the American porn film of the 1970s, was published in 2011 by Martin Schmitz Verlag .

He also writes liner notes for various DVD booklets; a detailed, 14-page article can be found in the 2006 DVD on The Hour of Cruel Corpses with Paul Naschy . He spoke to film journalist Robert Zion for an audio commentary for the DVD release of Mario Bava's film Bloody Silk .

In 1998 he worked as a line producer on Jess Franco's film Tender Flesh . For the film Die Reise ins Glück by Wenzel Storch , Keßler received a script credit in 2004 for his work on the narrative text of the film. As a "film scholar" he regularly participates in events of the Buio Omega film club .

After many years in Gelsenkirchen , Keßler lives again in Bremen.
