Alarm für Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei ( Alarm for Cobra 11 , Cobra 11 , AfC11 , C11 for short ) is a German action series that has been produced since 1995 and has been broadcast by RTL since 1996 .
The series describes the operations of the Kripo Autobahn, a fictional department of the Autobahn Police . The main characters are two police officers who together make up the Cobra 11 team. The main tasks of the Cobra-11 team are to solve crimes and identify perpetrators. Typical elements of the genre action are used, so that there are regular chases , exchanges of fire, explosions and fist fights. These action scenes are often elaborately produced and spectacularly staged. The series is currently the most complex and expensive of the RTL productions.
Since August 20, 2020, the 25th season has been broadcast on RTL on Thursdays at 8:15 pm.
history
The first three seasons were produced by Polyphon , with action concept being responsible for the stunts. The broadcast time is on Thursdays at 8:15 p.m. after the broadcast on Tuesdays at the beginning of the series.
The series began in 1996 with the pilot film Bombs at Kilometer 92 . The 22nd season was broadcast from September 14, 2017 to May 3, 2018 with a three-month broadcast break. The 44th broadcast season, which comprises 11 episodes, has been broadcast since September 13, 2018. At the beginning of March of the same year, RTL announced that the series would be continued in 2019 with another production series. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the austerity measures taken by RTL, the series is currently subject to a production stop . After the broadcast of the 25th season, the series will be revised and rated.
The Cobra 11 team initially consisted of Chief Inspector Frank Stolte and Chief Inspector Ingo Fischer. After just two episodes, Chief Detective Inspector Semir Gerkhan took the place of Ingo Fischer, after the latter had been shot in an operation. Since then, the role of Semir Gerkhan has remained an integral part of the series, while his teammate has changed several times. In 2020, major changes were incorporated into the series, because for the first time Semir Gerkhan has a woman as a team colleague at his side in Vicky Reisinger, the rest of the Autobahn Police team has been almost completely replaced and the police station has been extensively redesigned.

Production and characteristics
Locations
Initially, Berlin and Brandenburg were the locations for the action , later the series was relocated to the Rhineland between Krefeld and Cologne , because on the one hand the headquarters of the production company action concept is located there and on the other hand the section of the motorway in Berlin, which was closed in the 1960s and on which you initially rotated, demolished and renatured. The first office was a building of the former Bravo checkpoint near Dreilinden .
Since 2005, the Alarm-for-Cobra-11 crew has also had its “own” motorway , FTL Germany , a film motorway in Siersdorf near Aldenhoven . There is an approximately 1000 m long stretch of motorway that is rented for filming. Previously, the A540 was shot in Grevenbroich , as this route is part of a not yet fully realized motorway, is comparatively little traveled and is easy to cordon off. The site in Aldenhoven can be rented by anyone for filming, test purposes and events. Most of the stunt scenes in the series are filmed on this route .
The office building is located on the premises of the action concept company .
Most of the scenes for the season 18 pilot, Resurrection, were filmed in Austria in Tyrol .
The production traveled six days to Tirana for the pilot film Vendetta to shoot scenes for it.
In Cobra, take over! the scenes were filmed in the showdown of the pilot in the port of Liège .
The episode FKK-Alarm für Semir takes place on the Baltic island of Rügen .
In the pilot film Jenseits von Eden some scenes take place in a bunker. The former alternate seat of the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia in Kall-Urft served as the filming location . For the representation of the scenes in the Atacama desert , the Garzweiler opencast mine near Grevenbroich was filmed.
Many more scenes are filmed in abandoned factories or houses.
Naming
At the beginning of the series, the radio call name was " Cobra 11 " for the department of the Autobahn police station 11 and "Cobra" for the regional police control center, while the main characters were Cobra 11/1 and Cobra 11/2 and the uniformed actors as u. a. Cobra 11/4 occurred, which partly corresponds to the real radio paging schemes of the BOS radio for the police.
With the takeover of the production by action concept, " Cobra 11 " became the radio call name of the two main actors, while the agency became " Cobra ", the uniformed men became " Cobra 19 ", the actors of Team 2 became " Cobra 12 ", and the agency management to " Cobra 1 ". In 1983 the two "heroes of the first hour" tell a story about the origin of the name, according to which Semir brought the nickname Cobra to the motorway police. Semir comments on this with the words, one should not believe everything that small children or old men say. It also can't be true because the radio name Cobra was used in the first episodes when Semir wasn't part of the series.
Episode structure
The series usually begins with a crime. This is followed by a car chase on the motorway, followed by a pile-up and / or an exchange of fire. Usually the perpetrator or perpetrators can flee. Then the two commissioners determine. Suspects are interrogated and investigated in the perpetrator's private sphere. Most of the time, a suspect is arrested or important evidence is seized. Finally, after a more or less successful "access", there is another chase. The perpetrator is arrested or he has an accident.
At the beginning of the 19th season, a second storyline for one of the two commissioners (Semir Gerkhan) was introduced for the first time in the series . This extends over several seasons. According to their own information, the series would u. a. grow up through it. Another innovation from this season is that a head writer has been introduced into the series. With the entry of Vinzenz Kiefer (Alex Brandt) into the series, another storyline was introduced. This develops over the entire season, which leads to a cliffhanger at the end of the season . The episodes also seem somber and make up for the comedic style that drew every episode from 2008 to 2013.
Some of the episodes deal with tragic topics, such as the death of loved ones, while in others humorous elements predominate. Especially in the recent past there have been some episodes with rather bizarre content. In Jenseits von Eden, for example, one sees an attempted coup by former NVA soldiers, while Road Trip is based on a Western.
Since the beginning of season 25, the series has been returning to its original episode schemes from 1996–1999, and with it the criminal cases and investigative work, but also the characters themselves, with their own fates and setbacks in life and work, move significantly more into the Focus than in the last few seasons with sometimes exaggerated but entertaining action scenes. Current events such as B. the controversial racial profiling in the police, and new digital management and operational tools and investigation methods are finding their way into the series.
Episode list
With Alarm für Cobra 11 , both the division into production seasons, i.e. the order in which the episodes were produced, and the division into transmission seasons, i.e. according to the first broadcast on RTL , are common. RTL also specifies its own sequence, which is similar to the production relay.
Here in Wikipedia, all episodes of the respective production series are given.

Parodies
The series was parodied for some time on the comedy show Friday Night News weekly under the title Alarm für Kebap 11 - Die Dönerpölizei . Excerpts from the current episode were re- dubbed , with all people speaking with a Turkish accent . One of these short episodes was even shot especially by the main actors of the series (Erdoğan Atalay and René Steinke). There were other parodies in the television series Switch and Switch reloaded .
The series is also parodied on the Martina Hill Show as an alarm for Mutti 11 . Martina Hill and Erdoğan Atalay played the main roles in the three previous episodes (The Children's Birthday, Candy, The Ear).
Spin-off
On April 17, 2003, the pilot of the first offshoot of the series was broadcast on RTL with Alarm für Cobra 11 - Operation for Team 2 .
After the episodes Turbo & Tacho and Turbo and Tacho reloaded , the offshoot with the first mentioned title was broadcast as a pilot film on RTL on February 7, 2013 .
Trivia
- The situation of the episode The Attack of Season 15 from October 14, 2010 is based on the plot of the US-French film The End - Assault on Precinct 13 (2005). The tattoo: "Precinct 13" can be seen on a prisoner who can be seen in several scenes. Even some characters from the movie can be found in this episode. One of the few exceptions is the fact that, although the weather is clearly cold, including blowing snow, the prisoner transporter arrives at the motorway police station due to a previous accident and not, as in the film, due to generally bad weather conditions.
- The episode Höllenfahrt on the A4 is an almost exact copy of the US action flick Deadly Speed (1997) , apart from a few details .
- The episode Das B-Team refers to the SOKO Leipzig series . In this episode, Hartmut Freund introduces himself to camouflage as Lorenz Rettig from Leipzig. Lorenz Rettig is the laboratory assistant at SOKO Leipzig and thus the corresponding counterpart to Hartmut Freund.
