Mathias Herrmann

Mathias Herrmann (born July 16, 1962 in Friedberg ) is a German actor .

Life

After graduating from high school, the son of a bookseller family completed an acting training at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich . During his studies he was already on the stage of the Münchner Kammerspiele . Theater engagements in Freiburg, Dortmund, Bremen, Bonn, Mannheim, Basel and Düsseldorf followed.

He made his film debut in 1987 in the surprise hit The Girl with the Lighters by Ralf Huettner . Mathias Herrmann drew international attention in 1995 with a leading role in De Partizanen (director: Theu Boermans ), a Dutch world war drama that received numerous awards and was nominated for an Emmy . His breakthrough on German television came with the role of lawyer Dr. Johannes Voss in the ZDF crime series Ein Fall für Zwei (1997–2000, episodes 149–182). Numerous leading roles in successful and award-winning German television plays followed, including the Grimmepreis for The Phantom by Dennis Gansel . Herrmann was also seen in John Rabe in the cinema . The film, directed by Oscar winner Florian Gallenberger , received four German Film Awards in 2009, including Best Film. The adventures of Huck Finn started in 2012, directed by Grimme Prize winner Hermine Huntgeburth . Mathias Herrmann lives in Heidelberg , is married to the actress Nicole Averkamp (mother of the director Sophie Averkamp ) and has three children. His brother is the film producer and distributor Benjamin Herrmann .
