Dreams and Lies is a German television film by Johannes Grieser from 2002. It is the 22nd episode of the crime series A strong team with Maja Maranow and Florian Martens in the leading roles.
action
After a young woman collapsed dead after drug abuse in Berlin's “Shark Club”, Chief Detective Verena Berthold and her colleague Otto Garber investigated. There have been several deaths after using a certain type of ecstasy , so the dealers need to be caught. A Daniel Dabrock can be identified as a distributor of tablets on the basis of surveillance recordings. However, since no sale can be proven to him, the police have no action against him or possible backers. Team boss Reddemann therefore arranges for Chief Detective Yüksel Yüzguler to enter the drug scene as an alleged buyer. In this way he can establish contacts with a "drug wholesaler" who, however, has no pills in his "offer". So he is passed on and finally comes back to Daniel Dabrock, who sells the goods on behalf of his bosses Martin Loers and Matthias Jürgens. When Dabrock notices that his customer has a gun with him, he gets scared, shoots him and flees. Yüksel is seriously injured and brought to the clinic and the operation is canceled.
Otto Garber gets into a conflict during the investigation when he finds out that Katharina, the daughter of a good friend of his, is friends with Daniel Dabrock. Ultimately, however, Katharina helps Otto and brings him to Daniel. He had meanwhile got "cold feet" and found out that the pills he was supposed to be distributing were among the deadly drugs the police were looking for. He wants to face what Matthias Juergens wants to prevent and when Anna rings his doorbell, the latter simply takes her hostage. However, he cannot assert himself against the arriving officials and allows himself to be arrested without resistance. Martin Loers can also be convicted as the manufacturer of the drugs.

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm gave the best rating (thumbs up) and said: “What distinguishes above-average TV thrillers? Of course an exciting story that doesn't seem constructed! When the script and direction manage without clichés, a thriller becomes a pleasant surprise. And here it happens. ”Conclusion:“ Realistic thriller with a psychological touch. ”
