Deadly Message is a German TV film by Maris Pfeiffer from 2016. It is the 66th episode of the crime series A strong team with Florian Martens and Stefanie Stappenbeck in the lead roles. It is Linett Wachow's second assignment at Otto Garber's side .

action

The universal entrepreneur Sputnik has opened a driving school. During a practice drive, he does not pay attention and his student rams a car coming from the right. When Sputnik apologizes and tries to take a warning triangle from the car of the other party in the accident, he discovers a lifeless person there. Artur Zadeh, the driver of the car and Terkistani embassy employee, can allegedly not explain this. Sputnik informs detective chief inspector Otto Garber and his young colleague Linett Wachow, who immediately take care of the case. However, the investigation is difficult because the investigators are not authorized to enter the embassy premises. But Otto and Linett simply gain access to the site as service employees and can thus carry out initial investigations unofficially. The victim was Markus Gebhard and head of a catering company that had just arranged a reception at the embassy. Based on the traces of blood that the investigators discovered, Gebhard was probably stabbed here.

Otto and Linett initially suspect the motive for the murder in disagreements within the catering company and after the employee Linda Dornekamp is killed, the group of suspects also extends to Daniel Hartmann. He runs a rival company and was in dispute with both Markus Gebhard and Linda Dornekamp.

Linett Wachow also follows a trail to Natascha Karpenko, the ambassador's wife. She had a relationship with Markus Gebhard and even wanted to leave her husband. An act of jealousy by her husband would be conceivable. But the real background goes further and leads to his colleague Artur Zadeh. The investigators learn from Linda Dornekamp's sister that they grew up as children in Terkistan and that their mother also perished there. She had worked as an interpreter in the embassy there, and Linda had seen her mother being raped as a child. Years later, she happened to recognize Artur Zadeh as her mother's tormentor. She confided in Markus Gebhard, who wanted to go to the police and for fear that his wife might find out what he had done back then, Zadeh Gebhard stabbed and then also silenced Linda Dornekamp.

Unfortunately, Artur Zadeh cannot be held responsible because of his diplomatic status in Germany. Ben Kolberg therefore uses a ruse and pretends to be a taxi driver, so that on his next trip to town he brings Zadeh to the premises of the Dutch embassy, where his immunity does not apply.

Reviews

Tilmann P. Gangloff from Tittelbach.tv judged: “The second case of the rejuvenated 'A strong team' is a common thriller for a long time, but then the script by Leo P. Ard comes up with one hit after the other. Stefanie Stappenbeck once again proves to be the best thing that could have happened in succession to say goodbye to Maja Marnow. The tension alone is limited. "

The Frankfurter Rundschau wrote: “Apart from the last act, however, 'Deadly Message' is not very exciting. The tension is kept within limits because Pfeiffer, from whom the first film ('Knastelse') of the new era comes from 'Ein starkes Team', concentrates on the characters and their togetherness or opposition in their, however, highly solid staging. This is sometimes contemplative, but for friends of the series without question a pleasure. "

For the Frankfurter Neue Presse , Ulrich Feld said: “Less would have been significantly more here. Added to this are superfluous elements of the plot […] [and] a lot of lengthy investigations into false suspects, until the story suddenly takes a completely new direction due to an old crime. At the end, which the script threads really cleverly, the story comes out on top. ”Conclusion:“ The new case in the crime series 'A strong team' turns out to be unexpectedly tough. But the great ending makes up for it. "

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm only give a medium rating (thumbs straight) and say: “Lukewarm, difficult to get started crime food, the ingredients (the diplomats, the twins, the stutterer, boss loses the cloth) are not exactly newcomers TV Buffett and their dialog humor does not always spark. Fresh moments are more due to the mimes (for example newcomer Stappenbeck) than to the material. Only the tough experience the nice final gag. "Conclusion:" Deadly sedateness paralyzes our interest. "
