action
The special task force appoints the Berlin chief detective Verena Berthold as the lead to put an end to a gang of car smugglers. When one of the car thieves gets into a police check, he is killed in an exchange of fire. The police deliberately let his accomplice Manuel escape so that the commissioners can continue to observe him in order to get to the masterminds of the car gang. During the investigation, it is found that Manuel let go of the notebook from the cracked car, which belongs to the lawyer Jürgen Berger. Meanwhile, Otto tries to befriend Manuel undercover as a private person. To do this, he rents in the same hotel in which Manuel lives. To win Manuel's trust, Otto even steals a car from a police car park in the middle of the day. In fact, Otto can steal the notebook and hand the device over to the IT department so that they can evaluate the data. During her investigation, Verena has now also identified the man behind the car thefts, the used car dealer Wiegand. But the plot takes an unexpected turn. Berger is not an honest businessman, but the head of a counterfeit ring. Evidence of his criminal activities is on the notebook. Berger hires two professionals to get the notebook back. The first to "question" Manuel, who is found murdered in a garbage dump the next day. Then they kidnap Otto to find out where the notebook is. In an exciting showdown on the premises of a sailing club, Otto is saved at the last minute.
In this episode, Sputnik develops features of his lively, imaginative business acumen for the first time. Although he still runs a normal pub, he is also getting into real estate at the same time. His first property is the old building in which Otto lives for rent. And of course, according to Sputnik's assessment, the rents are no longer up-to-date and much too low.
