Diary of a future President (Original title: Diary of a Future President ) is an American youth - comedy series, which was created by Ilana Peña. The series premiered on January 17, 2020 on Disney + in the regions available at the time. The series has been published in German-speaking countries since March 24, 2020 on Disney +.

action

The intrepid, determined, fun- loving and very attentive 12-year-old Cuban American Elena Cañero-Reed attends middle school and has to navigate through personal problems and the social pressures of young people every day. The series reports from Elena's diary, which gives insight into her daily experiences and into her interactions with friends and family. The narrative is accompanied by comments from Elena from the off . Elena's family consists of her sweet but at the same time malicious big brother Bobby, her astute and loving mother Gabi and her new boyfriend Sam, who is a lawyer in Gabi's office. And Elena has a big dream, because she wants to become President of the United States, and is doing so moderately what is visible through her political campaign as an adult.

On January 31, 2019, it was announced that Disney + had ordered a ten-part first season of a new single-camera comedy series with the working title Diary of a Female President . Robin Shorr was confirmed as a showrunner. The series is produced by Rodriguez's production company I Can & I Will Productions in association with CBS Television Studios , which sold the series to Disney . The series revolves around a Latino family, with Elena being referred to as a Cuban American in the character descriptions . Rodriguez said she started her production company to tell stories "by underrepresented for underrepresented." The series is said to be inspired by Peña's own childhood.

Casting

In July 2019, it was announced that executive producer Gina Rodriguez is playing the adult version of Elena, who appears in flashovers , in which Elena is driving her political campaign. It has also been revealed that Rodriguez will direct the first episode. It was also announced that Tess Romero and Charlie Bushnell would play the siblings Elena and Bobby, while Selenis Leyva was cast as her mother Gabi and Michael Weaver as Gabi's love interest, Sam.

Filming

Production for the first season began in Los Angeles in July 2019 . The originally planned shooting schedule was June 2019 to September 2019.

The German dubbing is done under the dialogue book by Matthias Müntefering and Ramona Abraham and under the dialogue direction by Julia Haacke by the dubbing company SDI Media Germany GmbH in Munich .
