Der Todfeind is a German television film by Jakob Schäuffelen from the year 2000. It is the 16th episode of the crime series A strong team with Maja Maranow and Florian Martens in the leading roles.
action
Chief Detective Verena Berthold and her colleague Otto Garber become the target of a former colleague who was convicted after he murdered a drug courier. Having just escaped from prison, Carsten Pollfuß is now threatening to kill the police officers who arrested him at the time. Even if Pollfuß initially only threatens with warnings, he leaves no doubt that he is serious. With various attempts at intimidation he shows Verena and Otto that he is apparently superior to them. Their boss Reddemann has them taken to a police barracks so that they are safe there. But Pollmann is one step ahead of them again and intercepts them there. However, he again only threatens and then disappears. With that, Verena and Otto set themselves on Pollmann's trail. When he escapes with his car and is found burned in this car after an accident, the case seems closed. But Otto has doubts and after Pollfuss' brother cannot be found, they seem justified. That same evening Pollfuß lures Verena and Otto to him and forces them to shoot each other. But since Otto wears a special safety vest, he only plays dead and can overpower Pollfuß, who dies after an exchange of fire.

criticism
The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm only give it a medium rating (thumbs straight), but they say: “This case of the unequal duo also has what a thriller needs: suspense, originality and wit. However, the fireworks do not ignite properly. Only the quirky colleagues (including Leonard Lansink, Tayfun Bademsoy) are great. ”Conclusion:“ Routine and without any big surprises. ”
