Kindertraum is a German television film by Maris Pfeiffer from 2002. It is the 23rd episode of the crime series A strong team with Maja Maranow and Florian Martens in the leading roles.

action

Chief Detective Otto Garber and his colleague Verena Berthold investigate the brutal murder of the gynecologist Stephan Weslowskij. After initial research, the man in Russia had lost his doctor's job a year ago because he had bought expired drugs in Germany and sold them in Russia at new prices. He was found shot dead on the street and everything looks like an execution with a mafia background. Another Russian had recently stayed in the hotel in which the victim stayed, and Otto therefore suspects that this Nik Warenko might have something to do with the murder. Verena, on the other hand, is following a lead to Maria Geller, who runs an agency for the placement of foreign children with German adoptive families. One of these children is being contacted by Nik Warenko. He tries to win Anna Lena Schwanhold's trust and makes her curious about relatives she allegedly had in Russia. When she asks her adoptive parents about it, they get extremely restless.

Otto and Verena have since found out from Peggy Petrovna, who also lives in the hotel and who became friends with Weslowskij, that he wanted to sell someone his diary for half a million euros. This opens up a motive for the investigators and since the victim was a gynecologist it is obvious that it has something to do with Maria Geller's agency, with whom he had also telephoned several times. So her research also leads to the Schwanholds, who have just been visited by Nik Warenko and who has come out to them as Anna-Lena's biological father. He only asks to be able to participate a little in his daughter's life. Otherwise, he would take legal action, which would also affect the agency that bought her mother's child. After he announced that he would go to the police the next day, he was shot dead at close range. Everything indicates that Weslovsky wanted to blackmail the agency because he knew the truth about their machinations. The investigators set a trap for Maria Geller and so she admits to having cleared the two men out of the way. Allegedly, she would have done all this for the sake of the children in order to ensure a good future for them.
