Dark Shades is a German television film by Peter Fratzscher from 2006. It is the 32nd episode of the crime series A strong team with Maja Maranow and Florian Martens in the lead roles.

action

Chief Detective Verena Berthold and colleague Otto Garber are called in to a murder case of a former KFOR soldier. Rainer Sutor was found shot and it initially looks like robbery and murder. When researching the motive for the murder, the investigators are certain that this must have something to do with the Bundeswehr mission in the Kosovo war. All of Sutor's comrades have now found a way back into “normal” bourgeois life and built a new existence for themselves. He himself had bigger problems and had to seek psychological help as he was still suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

The commissioners are gradually on the track of a secret between the men, because among other things, they hide the real origin of their "starting capital" from the officials. According to Ben Kolberg's research, a Serbian jeweler who had goods worth 2 million in his warehouse was shot dead under the command of Sutor and his comrades. His daughter Maria was also killed, so an act of revenge by the Serbs is conceivable. The investigators suspect Ratko Markovic, who wanted to marry Maria and is now in Germany. Surprisingly, he confesses the act, but the commissioners quickly realize that he cannot be the culprit, but is covering someone.

Martin Fürst, one of Sutor's comrades, fell in love with Maria's friend Mileta and brought her to Germany. From Ratko Markovic she learned that one of the soldiers who were supposed to protect the village had shot Maria. She wanted to confront Sutor because she couldn't talk to her husband about it. When Dutor spoke disparagingly about Maria, she shot him in her anger with his pistol that was on the table. Ratko Markovic wanted to protect Mileta with his confession because he was very familiar with her as Maria's friend.
