The Last Fight is a German television film by Jakob Schäuffelen from 1999. It is the 11th episode of the crime series A strong team with Maja Maranow and Florian Martens in the leading roles.

action

Berlin is facing a major boxing event. World champion Roger Heinz gives his farewell performance to the challenger Mikael Teiszewitsch, the new protégé of his manager Kaiser. Ex-hobby boxer Otto is the proud owner of two VIP tickets for the fight. Seats in the best row and attend the party afterwards. It could be a perfect evening if it weren't for the SEK leader Reddemann. The SEK has long been unsuccessfully investigating manager Kaiser in order to convict him of the organized smuggling of stolen works of art from the Ukraine. Reddemann sees the VIP party as a great opportunity to investigate undercover in Kaiser's direct vicinity. So Otto gritted his teeth and took Verena with him into the arena, even though she had no idea about boxing. Nobody in the SEK suspects that Kaiser, even as a boxing manager, is using illegal means to increase his wealth. He would like to see Teiszewitsch as the new world champion in order to earn millions from advertising income. He offers Heinz a large sum so that Teiszewitsch can let him win. To be on the safe side, he also has Heinz 'water bottle vaccinated with an anesthetic drug. But none of this can break his will to win. Teiszewitsch goes knocked down in the fourth round. At the party, Kaiser has to work very hard to feign joy about Heinz's victory. Then Heinz 'father-in-law Busch shows up, apparently drunk and irritable. Heinz trained in the mediocre "Boxing Club Busch" years ago, but soon switched to the much more qualified coach Semper and his "boxing temple". Busch never got over this setback and surrendered to alcohol. Even today he calms down quickly after a couple of martinis at the bar. On the way to the washroom, Verena accidentally watches two suspicious figures leading Heinz outside at gunpoint. With her fighting experience, she can put the weird birds to flight. Heinz leaves the party a little later and is then, to the general horror, found shot in the underground car park. A case for the Kripo, but no reason for Verena and Otto not to keep an eye on this murder case too. When Yüksel makes contact with Kaiser in a posh hotel, supposedly a broker for a rich art collector, the two "weird birds" reappear; they are Kaiser's henchmen for the rough. But they have a safe alibi for the time of the murder. The next suspect is Heinz's last trainer, Semper. Although he admits that he put the drug in the water bottle, he too has a clear alibi for the time of the crime. Then the events overlap: Reddemann and the rest of the team observe the handover of the stolen works of art in an empty industrial hall. Kaiser and his Ukrainian accomplice can be arrested in the red. Verena and Otto are simultaneously on their way to the last remaining suspect among the party guests. When they arrive at the "Busch Boxing Club", they immediately notice the smell of gas. Busch, apparently in desperation, wants to blow up his shop. With a lighter in hand, he tells the two of the real events in the underground car park. Busch had planned to shoot himself in front of Heinz's eyes. When Heinz tried to wrest the gun from his father-in-law, the fatal shot was accidentally released. Now Busch can no longer be dissuaded from his suicide. Verena and Otto can only save themselves at the last second while the boxing club behind you spectacularly blows up.
