Leonard Lansink grew up with his grandparents in Gelsenkirchen-Rotthausen . His grandfather, who worked as a butcher, had the same name. After his birth, Lansink was left behind in the hospital by his mother; he did not get to know his father or his paternal grandparents. Lansink later had occasional contact with his mother. Later he also met his half-sister. However, he has not yet met his half-brother. All three half-siblings have different fathers, Lansink is the oldest of the three half-siblings. He graduated from high school in 1974 at the Bischöflichen Gymnasium am Stoppenberg in Essen . Here he learned - inspired by Jethro Tull - to play the flute . After six semesters, Lansink dropped out of his medical degree and went to the Folkwang School in Essen to become an actor .

He then had engagements on the stages in Essen, Bochum and Oberhausen . In 1980 Lansink founded his own theater group, in which he directed and acted himself. In addition, he appeared in independent theaters and at the Munich theater festival. In 1983 he had his first TV role in the crime scene . In 1987, he played a supporting role in the movie Popsicle VII - Boys In Love , for which he received $ 3,000 and spent 14 days in Tel Aviv .

Since the beginning of the 1990s he has appeared in supporting roles in films, for example in Leo and Charlotte (1991) or in the bestseller film adaptation of The Silent Mr. Genardy (1997). In 1997 he received a special award for his performance in the ZDF film Just for One Night at the Baden-Baden Days of TV Play . After a few series roles, he joined the permanent cast of the ZDF crime series Ein starkes Team in 1994 , where he played the IT specialist chief detective Georg Scholz in 29 episodes until 2005. In addition to the Wilsberg films, Lansink took part in many other German crime series, such as Ein Fall für Zwei , SOKO 5113 , Polizeiruf 110 , The Last Witness , Adelheid and Her Murderers as well as in several Tatort episodes. He had a guest role as a bus driver in the series Heinz Becker Family in the episode Die Busfahrt nach Lourdes (1994).

In Kondom des Horens (1996), the adaptation of the comic by Ralf König , he played the transvestite Babette, in the box office hit Knockin 'on Heaven's Door (1997) with Til Schweiger in the lead role, he again embodied the inspector. In 2002 he won over in his first leading role in the youth drama My First Wonder - as a solitary family man who befriends a precocious eleven year old girl.

Lansink plays theater together with Heinrich Schafmeister .

useful information

For Münster , Lansink alias Wilsberg has become a real figurehead. Three to four episodes are shot each year. The actor is also committed to the city outside of this time. So he took over the patronage of the Münster cancer advice center - he had lymph gland cancer himself - for which he collects money every year with a “celebrity waiter” in the trendy bar Der Bunte Vogel and at the Aasee terraces . Lansink has been a registered member of SC Preußen Münster since 2005 , although he is a supporter of FC Schalke 04 .

Lansink does not have a driver's license. The scenes that show him at the wheel in the television series Wilsberg were recorded on cordoned off routes. He is limping due to an ankle injury he suffered in a riding accident in 2004 and an artificial hip joint.

During the Bundestag election campaign in 2005, he joined the SPD and publicly supported it. Lansink was elected a member of the 13th Federal Assembly (2009).

In 2012 Lansink supported the Münster initiative "Schlossplatz!", Which successfully opposed the renaming of the Schlossplatz there to "Hindenburgplatz". He even shot a commercial for the initiative.

On October 15, 2011, Leonard Lansink married the lawyer Maren Muntenbeck in Schöneberg Town Hall, whom he had met at an event in Münster , where he was invited to be the keynote speaker. The couple lives in Berlin- Friedrichshain.

Awards

In 2008 Lansink was honored with the title “Best for bike - the most cyclist-friendly personality of 2008”.

In April 2014 Lansink received the 5,000 euro prize from the Otmar Alt Foundation in Hamm -Norddinker. This was justified, among other things, with the fact that he had given the film character Wilsberg an independent and unique character. At the same time, the award recognized Lansink's special commitment to the Münster cancer counseling center.

In January 2017, Lansink received the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia due to his many years of service for the Münster Cancer Advice Center, of which he has also been the patron since 2003.
