Doctors is a German- Austrian doctor series produced between 1993 and 1999 . The broadcast in Germany took place in the evening program mostly on Wednesdays at 8.15 p.m.

background

The series was an attempt by ARD to transfer the successful concept of the crime series Tatort to the medical sector . Seven different regional stations produced their own episodes with their own teams of doctors, locations and authors. There were also other episodes of the Austrian ORF . A total of seven seasons were produced by BR , MDR , NDR , WDR HR , SWF and SFB as well as ORF. Typically, a season consisted of four to seven episodes. Production was discontinued in 1999 due to a lack of audience response.

concept

The doctors of the individual broadcasters not only pursue their grueling job in the respective episodes, they also have enough private problems and worries to deal with.

In the episodes of the BR, the gynecologists Dr. Wolfgang Schwarz ( Friedrich von Thun ) and Dr. Margarethe Martin ( Senta Berger ) on duty. The protagonist of the WDR is sports doctor Conny Knipper ( Dietmar Bär ). The NDR is represented by the Hamburg internist Dr. Konrad Vogt ( Sven-Eric Bechtolf ). The MDR employs the surgeon Dr. Heinrich Klein ( Uwe Kockisch ), the Dresden anesthetist Katrin Klein ( Suzanne von Borsody ) and the assistant doctor Lena Walter ( Katharina Abt ). The pediatrician Leah Schönfeld ( Simone Thomalla ) in Karlsruhe and the general practitioner returning from India, Dr. Karla Fasching-Spiehweg ( Rosel Zech ) works in the Black Forest village of Reichenthal . The emergency doctor Dr. Andrea Löbach ( Sabina Trooger ), for ORF the gynecologist Dr. Helmut Singer ( Fritz Egger ) and for the SFB the Professor of Pediatrics Dr. Peter Häusler ( Winfried Glatzeder ).

The local flavor is not neglected at the individual locations either.
