Klausjürgen Wussow

Klausjürgen Wussow (born April 30, 1929 in Cammin , † June 19, 2007 in Rüdersdorf near Berlin ) was a German-Austrian actor and voice actor .

Life

Klausjürgen Wussow was born in 1929 in Cammin, Pomerania, as one of four sons of a cantor and teacher. He was still a schoolboy on the stage of Städtebundtheater in Mecklenburg goods . After his military service , Wussow attended the Richard-Wossidlo-Gymnasium in Waren (Müritz) from 1946 . One of his classmates was Heiner Müller .

Wussow was married a total of four times. One daughter comes from his first marriage (1951 to 1960) with the actress Jolande Franz (1927–2015). From her marriage to actress Ida Krottendorf (1960 to 1991) there were two children: Barbara and Alexander Wussow , both also actors. His son-in-law is the actor Albert Fortell . Benjamin Wussow, who was born in 1993 and now lives as a Christian missionary in Spain , comes from his third marriage (1992 to 2003) with the 26 years younger journalist Yvonne Viehöfer . The marriage was divorced in 2003. In 2004 Wussow married Sabine Scholz, the widow of the boxer Bubi Scholz .

Wussow was recently heavily indebted, according to media reports with up to three million euros, and had to register personal bankruptcy in 2001 . Klausjürgen Wussow, who suffered from dementia, lived in a nursing home in Strausberg in Brandenburg from July 2006 . In the last months of his life he had to be treated in the intensive care unit of the Evangelical Hospital in Rüdersdorf near Berlin after a circulatory collapse . He died there on June 19, 2007 at the age of 78.

Despite a will from Wussow from 2000 to be buried next to his second wife Ida Krottendorf in Vienna- Grinzing , the actor was buried on June 30, 2007 after a memorial service in the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin at the Heerstraße cemetery in Berlin -Westend buried (grave location: Erb. 2-D-2). According to Wussow's request, the sermon was held by the TV priest Jürgen Fliege , who also gave the blessing at the grave.

After his debut at the Volksbühne Schwerin , other stages in his theater career included the Hebbel Theater and the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm in Berlin as well as the municipal theaters in Frankfurt , Düsseldorf , Cologne , Zurich and Munich . In the 1960s he played in The Fifth Column (ZDF) . In the 1970s, Wussow worked primarily as an actor in television series, for example in the 26-part series Der Kurier der Kaiserin . He also starred in Sergeant Berry , but left the series after thirteen episodes and was later replaced by Harald Juhnke . He also played in the series Ringstrasse Palace .

Wussow became known to a wide audience through his role as Professor Brinkmann in 70 episodes of the television series Die Schwarzwaldklinik (1985–1988) on ZDF . Wussow was given leave of absence from Claus Peymann , the director of the Burgtheater at the time, to film the Black Forest Clinic . Due to the enormous success of the hospital series in Glottertal , he left the Burgtheater ensemble in 1986 after his last theater appearances in Vienna. Around 28 million viewers per program followed the series at the time, which ensured it was very popular. Since it was his original professional desire to become a doctor (see Wussow's books Mein Leben als Chefarzt and Professor Brinkmann and I ), he dedicated himself to the role of Prof. Brinkmann with particular pleasure. From 1996 to 2003 Wussow again played the role of chief physician in 23 episodes of the ARD series Klinik unter Palmen .

Speaking roles and other activities

In addition to acting, Wussow also made a name for himself as an author, painter and voice actor (including Frollo in the Walt Disney film The Hunchback of Notre Dame , language and song, 1996). Wussow was also involved in a number of radio play productions; for example in 1957 as Peter Koslowski in the five-parter Am grün Strand der Spree , which was produced by SWF under the direction of Gert Westphal .

Honors

Wussow was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany, honorary citizenship of the Republic of Austria and an Austrian honorary professorship. He was also honored with the Golden Camera (1985) and the Bambi TV Prize (1985). According to Wussow in his book Professor Brinkmann und I from 1987, he gave his Bambi away on the evening of the award ceremony.
