Albert Fortell
Albert Fortell (* 5. July 1952 in Vienna as Adalbert Fortelni ) is an Austrian actor and screenwriter .
Life
Albert Fortell (real name Adalbert Fortelni) was born on July 5, 1952 in Vienna as the son of the actor Bert Fortell - real name also Adalbert Fortelni - (1924-1996) and his wife Gerda Fortelni. His mother died in 2007.
Fortell attended a Catholic elementary school in Grinzing . After two years at grammar school, he switched to the “American International School” in Vienna, where he graduated from university. During his time at this school he was a member of the local drama club and played in various school productions. He also founded a school band.
Fortell began studying law at the University of Vienna , which he completed in 1980 with a master's degree. During his law studies he also completed an acting training at the " Max Reinhardt Seminar ", which he also completed in 1980 with a diploma. Other courses attended include a musical workshop with Susi Nicoletti in Salzburg and a four-month acting workshop with Nina Foch in Los Angeles. He also attended a six-month seminar for screenwriters at UCLA in Los Angeles. Through his work in the United States, he became a member of the United States' Screen Actors Guild ( SAG )
He has been married to actress Barbara Wussow since 1990 . The two have two children.
Acting work
Fortell received his first stage engagement at the Theater in der Josefstadt , where he made his debut as a theater actor in Ferenc Molnár's play in the castle under the direction of Hans Jarays . Other theater stations included the Vienna Volkstheater , the Freie Wiener Bühnen under Topsy Küppers and the Löwinger stage .
From the beginning of the 1980s Fortell also worked in film and television productions. In 1981 he shot the multi-part television film Wettlauf nach Bombay under the direction of Christian-Jaque . This was followed by smaller roles in American productions such as Marvin J. Chomsky's Albert Speer biography Inside the Third Reich and the war film Das Kommando with Lewis Collins and Richard Widmark . In 1987 Fortell moved to the United States for twelve years , where he joined the Screen Actors Guild . He played u. a. in television series such as 55 Lime Street (with Robert Wagner and Lew Ayres ) and in the movie thriller Little Nikita (with Sidney Poitier and River Phoenix ). In addition to his work as a film and television actor, Fortell also worked on a theater production of Harold Pinters Betrayal at the "Back Alley Theater" in Los Angeles.
Fortell had other film and television appearances in the thriller The Stone of Death (with Elke Sommer ), Rainer Erler's socially critical film News - Report on a journey into a bright future , the television film Melodie der Herzen nach Rosamunde Pilcher and the historical drama Crown Prince Rudolf . Fortell was also part of the regular cast of television series such as the crime series Blaues Blut (with Capucine ), the family saga Schloss Hohenstein - Irrwege zum Glück and the hotel series Schlosshotel Orth . He also took on numerous guest roles in other series such as SOKO 5113 and In all friendship .
In 2010 he played in the telenovela Sturm der Liebe corporate consultant Dr. Wolfgang Degen (episode 1061-1067).

In 1982 Fortell met actress Barbara Wussow , daughter of the actors and actresses Ida Krottendorf and Klausjürgen Wussow, at a reading in Salzburg . The two became a couple and married in 1990, son Nikolaus was born in 1998 and daughter Johanna in 2005. Together, the couple Wussow / Fortell played in various theater and television productions, for example in the television series Die Menschen von St. Benedikt and individual episodes from Eurocops , Blaues Blut and Schlosshotel Orth , as well as in the ARD / RAI production "Ariadne" based on Anton Chekhov.
Fortell wrote several scripts and he and his wife staged his play "Kurzschluss" over 200 times. He organizes recitation evenings (such as the “Reading of the Terror” based on texts by Edgar Allan Poe and Roald Dahl ) at the Salzburg Festival . Fortell also works as a voice actor , including for the Austrian version of the US series Serpico , and as a spokesperson for advertising jingles.
In 1994 he was a member of the founding board of trustees of the VÖFS ( Association of Austrian Film Actors ), and thereby became a member of the umbrella association of Austrian filmmakers . After two years on the board, he was elected chairman of the association for two years.
In 2001 he was appointed to the ORF Board of Trustees by the then federal government. He was a member of this body until February 2006.
In 2003 he was awarded the culture medal of Upper Austria by the Upper Austrian Governor Pühringer . In 2012 Albert Fortell became a founding member of the artists' association Les Montmartrois de Vienne, which was brought to life in Vienna by Les Montmartrois en Europe .
In 2013 he became a member of the “Advisory Board” of the “ICD” (Institute for Cultural Diplomacy).
