Umbrella organization of Austrian filmmakers
The umbrella organization of Austrian filmmakers (DVF) is the overriding interest group for Austrian filmmakers and television professionals founded in 1987 . Most professional associations and interest groups in the film industry are members.
The tasks of the DVF include services for its members, the closed representation of the interests of Austrian filmmakers with regard to film funding , legal issues, trade unions and politics as well as lobbying and public relations . The DVF is based at the Filmhaus am Spittelberg in Vienna - new building .
history
For the first time in Austrian film history , there was an association of all filmmakers in Austria in 1922 with the Filmbund . After the Second World War, it was not until 1987 that the umbrella organization of Austrian filmmakers established a representative body for all Austrian filmmakers.
activities
The activities include safeguarding the professional (cultural, political, legal and economic) interests of Austrian filmmakers as well as promoting Austrian film and cinema culture and the reputation of Austrian film at home and abroad.
This is done in the area of public relations by issuing publications and various events. Internally, the DVF also deals with the creation of model contracts and, in addition to regular meetings of all members, also meets in working committees on issues that are important for the entire Austrian film industry. The association's activities also include drafting and supporting legislative proposals.
The association works with other institutions at home and abroad.
organization
Ordinary members are exclusively professional associations and associations as well as interest groups in the Austrian film industry, but not individuals. Domestic and foreign organizations with similar objectives can be accepted as extraordinary members.
The association structure provides for a general assembly and a board. The current chairman of the association (as of January 2020) is Fabian Eder .
Members
In the DVF, every professional branch with an interest group is represented. In some professions, however, there are several associations that are not all members of the DVF. For example, the Association of Austrian Film Authors (VÖFA) is not a member. Likewise, the associations of film producers ( Film Austria and Association of Austrian Filmproducers ) as representatives of the employers' side are not members.
