The Screenplay Association Austria , based in Vienna , represents the interests of some Austrian screenwriters .

The purpose of the association is to perceive and promote the artistic, economic, legal and cultural interests of Austrian scriptwriters; Representing their interests vis-à-vis television companies , publishers , the film industry , trade unions and ministries , legislative bodies and all film funding institutions .

The members are people who, at the time of joining the association, have already created a script for a full-length feature film or television film, or young authors with appropriate training.

The association was founded in 1989 and has around 90 members (as of 2010).

The association is a member of the umbrella organization of Austrian filmmakers and the FSE ( Federation of Screenwriters in Europe ), and sends a member to the curia for literature of the artists 'commission for the artists' social insurance fund . He is also responsible for the organization and tendering of the Thomas Pluch script award , endowed with 22,000 euros , which is awarded annually as part of the Diagonale in Graz .
