Association of Austrian Cameramen

The Association of Austrian Cinematographers , also the Austrian Association of Cinematographers (AAC) , is an association founded in 1976 to represent the interests of Austrian cinematographers .

The seat of the AAC is the Filmhaus am Spittelberg in Vienna- Neubau . The association has around 150 members, mainly full-time cameramen. The AAC is a member of the umbrella association of Austrian filmmakers (DVF) and the European association of camera associations IMAGO .

history

  • 1976: Foundation of the Association of Austrian Cinematographers, first chairman Elio Carniel
  • 1977: Publication of the brochure Film and Filmmakers in Austria,

groundbreaking for the introduction of film funding and a collective agreement for all areas of film.

  • 1979: The aac calls for the establishment of a federal association of all professional associations and draws up statutes.
  • 1980: Kurt Junek becomes chairman of the aac
  • 1984: Kurt Brazda takes over the function of chairman.
  • 1986: Introduction of the camera award The Golden Squad
  • 1987: Co-founder of the umbrella association of Austrian filmmakers
  • 1989: Suggestion to found a collecting society for film authors
  • 1991: Introduction of a camera assistant course at the Graphic Research and Training Institute.
  • 1992: Co-founder of the VDFS (collecting society, umbrella association of Austrian filmmakers)
  • 1994: Extension of the Golden Cadre to all professional groups in filmmaking
  • 1999: Big gala in Augarten on the occasion of the award of the Goldene Kaders
  • 2005: Co-founding of the film college
  • 2006: Big gala for the 30th anniversary of the aac and awarding of the Goldene Kaders
  • 2009: Astrid Heubrandtner takes over the function of chairwoman. Kurt Brazda is awarded the honorary presidency.

membership

Ordinary membership takes place upon application by voting by the board. Full members are full-time cameramen or assistants and, since 2003, also film light determiners , who are more important in the field of digital post-processing of films. Extraordinary members are those with less than three years of professional experience and part-time cameramen and assistants.

Awards

The AAC has been awarding the AAC prize for the best camera work of the year at Diagonale since 2004 . For the 30th anniversary of the association in 2006, two prizes were awarded for the first time, in the categories of best camera work for feature and documentary film, as the Diagonale price for camera work . Since 2007 these prizes have been called the Diagonale Prize for Image Design and are endowed with 2,000 euros each.
