Astrid Heubrandtner (born September 3, 1968 in Leoben ) is an Austrian camerawoman (Director of Photography) and film director .

Life

Astrid Heubrandtner graduated from the Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnasium Leoben in 1986 . She then began to study theater studies and art history at the University of Vienna . In 1987 she moved to the College of Photography at the Federal Higher Graphic Education and Research Institute , which she completed in 1989. She then stayed for a year in Paris , where she attended courses on film and video at the University of Paris VIII and worked as an assistant to photographers and in photo studios. Heubrandtner studied image technology and camera as well as production at the Vienna Film Academy from 1990 . During her studies, from 1992, she began to work as a lighting technician and camera assistant in various cinema productions and in advertising. She finished her training at the film academy in 1998 and then worked as a camerawoman and occasionally as a film director. From 2002 to 2004 she completed an interdisciplinary doctoral degree at the University of Vienna and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . From 2011 to 2012 she was visiting professor for camera at the Vienna Film Academy.

Heubrandtner is chairwoman of the Association of Austrian Cinematographers (AAC) and a member of dok.at , the European Film Academy and the Academy of Austrian Films . In addition, from 2006 to 2018 she was on the Master Class Committee of IMAGO - The International Federation of Chinematographers.
