Kurt Brazda (born April 26, 1947 in Vienna ) is an Austrian director, cameraman and photo artist.

Life

Brazda studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in the film and television department. During his more than 30-year career as a cameraman, which began in 1970, he was involved in 600 productions, among other things.

Brazda was a co-founder of the Association of Austrian Cinematographers AAC. In 1984 he replaced Kurt Junek as chairman of the association. He held this office until 2009, when he was replaced by Astrid Heubrandtner . In 1992 Brazda was also involved in setting up the collecting society for filmmakers VDFS and was its deputy chairman for many years.

Brazda has been a member of the Künstlerhaus Wien since 1982 and was head of the "Film" section there for 12 years. He has been a board member of the Künstlerhaus again since 2014. Since 2002 Brazda has mainly worked as a director. In this role he worked for the ORF and other European television companies. In 2009 he was one of the founding members of the Academy of Austrian Films .

Until 2014 Brazda was chairman of the Vienna Film Archive of the Labor Movement (WIFAR). He taught at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences and at the Vienna Film College. He currently teaches at SAE Austria and the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences.
