Montegallo is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 463 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Ascoli Piceno in Marche . The municipality is located about 20.5 kilometers west of Ascoli Piceno in the Monti Sibillini National Park at the foot of Monte Vettore and belongs to the Comunità montana del Tronto . The administrative center of the municipality is in the district of Balzo .

history

In the first third of the 20th century, the community still had more than 3,000 inhabitants, many of whom emigrated to Germany, Switzerland and Brazil in the course of time.
