At 2476 m slm, Monte Vettore is the highest mountain in the Italian Monti Sibillini National Park . It rises on the border of the Marche and Umbria in the Apennines . The massif of Monte Vettore is mainly made up of light limestone from the Lias ; its outline resembles a horseshoe open to the north, in the middle of which is the Lago di Pilato .
