Cupra Marittima is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 5408 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Ascoli Piceno in Marche . The municipality is located about 29 kilometers northeast of Ascoli Piceno on the Adriatic Sea .
history
The municipality was already settled in Roman times. The settlement is known as Marano from the High Middle Ages . The community has had its current name since 1863.
traffic
The A14 autostrada runs through the municipality from Bologna to southern Italy along the Adriatic Sea. The Strada Statale 16 Adriatica runs parallel to this along the coastline . Cupra Marittima station is on the Ancona – Lecce railway line .
