Montalto delle Marche is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1981 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Ascoli Piceno in Marche . The municipality is located about 15 kilometers north-northeast of Ascoli Piceno and borders directly on the province of Fermo .

Montalto delle Marche was in the Papal States a significant community. In the 16th century Pope Sixtus V established a mint .
