Montreuil-le-Gast ( Breton : Mousterel-ar-Gwast , Gallo : Montroelh-le-Gast ) is a French municipality with 1,936 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Ille-et-Vilaine in the region of Brittany . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Rennes and the canton of Melesse (until 2015: canton of Saint-Aubin-d'Aubigné ). The inhabitants are called Montreuillais .
geography
Montreuil-le-Gast is about 15 kilometers north-north-west of Rennes . Montreuil-le-Gast is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Médard-sur-Ille in the north and north-east, Melesse in the east and south-east, La Mézière in the south and south-west and Vignoc in the west.
