Saint-Jacques-de-la- Lande ( Breton : Sant-Jakez-al-Lann ) is a commune with 13,087 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Ille-et-Vilaine in the region of Brittany . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Rennes , the canton of Rennes-5 and is a member of the Rennes Métropole municipal association .
geography
The municipality is located in the greater area southwest of Rennes on the east bank of the river Vilaine . Neighboring municipalities are: Rennes in the north, Noyal-Châtillon-sur-Seiche in the east, Chartres-de-Bretagne in the south-east, Bruz in the south, Chavagne in the south-west and Le Rheu in the north-west.
Rennes- Saint-Jacques Airport is in the middle of the municipality . The place has a train station on the Rennes – Redon line .
history
Mentioned at the beginning of the 15th century as Saint Jacobi de Foresta and later (17th century) on maps as St. Iames , the municipality gained its importance as an air force base during the Second World War.

Attractions
Next to the Notre Dame church, built by Jacques Mellet in the mid-19th century, the 18th-century Château du Haut-Bois is well worth a visit. The natural park de la Morinais should be mentioned as a resort.
