L'Hermitage ( Breton : Ar Peniti ) is a French community with a population of 4437 (as of January 1 2017) in the Department Ille-et-Vilaine in the region Bretagne ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Rennes and the canton of Le Rheu . The inhabitants are called Hermitageois (es) .

L'Hermitage is on the Flume and Vaunoise rivers . L'Hermitage is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Gilles in the north and Pacé in the northeast, Le Rheu in the south and southeast, Mordelles in the south and southwest and La Chapelle-Thourault in the west.

L'Hermitage train station is on the Paris – Brest railway line .
