Chavagne ( Breton : Kavan ) is a French municipality with 4015 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine in the region of Brittany ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Rennes and the canton of Le Rheu . The inhabitants are called Chavagnais (es) .

geography

Chavagne is twelve kilometers southwest of Rennes on the river Meu and is bounded in the east by the Vilaine . Chavagne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Rheu in the north, Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande in the north-east, Bruz in the east, Goven in the south and south-west and Mordelles in the west and north-west.
