Goven ( Breton : Goven ) is a French municipality with 4363 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine in the region of Brittany . Guichen belongs to the Arrondissement of Redon and is part of the canton of Guichen . The inhabitants are called Govenais .
geography
Goven is located about 20 kilometers southwest of Rennes between the Canut rivers in the west, the Meu in the northeast and the Vilaine in the east. Goven is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bréal-sous-Montfort in the north, Mordelles in the north and north-east, Chavagne in the north-east, Bruz in the east, Guichen in the south and south-east, Lassy in the south, Baulon in the west and south-west and Saint-Thurial .
The former route nationale 177 runs through the municipality from Redon to Rennes .
