Guignen ( Breton : Gwinien ; Gallo : Ginyen ) is a French municipality with 3902 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine in the region of Brittany . Guignen belongs to the Arrondissement of Redon and is part of the canton of Guichen . The inhabitants are called Guignennais .
geography
Guignen is located about 26 kilometers south of Rennes in the Vilaine valley . Guignen is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lassy in the north, Guichen in the northeast, Saint-Senoux in the east, Saint-Malo-de-Phily in the southeast, Lohéac in the south, Maure-de-Bretagne and Mernel in the southwest, and La Chapelle-Bouëxic in the west and Baulon in the northwest.
The former route nationale 177 runs through the municipality from Redon to Rennes .
