Sainte-Marie ( Breton Lokmaria-Redon ) is a French municipality with 2249 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine in the region of Brittany . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Redon and the canton of Redon . The inhabitants are called Samaritains .

Sainte-Marie is on the border with the Loire-Atlantique department . The river Vilaine runs to the south of the municipality . Sainte-Marie is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Renac in the north and east, Avessac in the east and south-east, Saint-Nicolas-de-Redon in the south and south-west, Redon in the south-west and Bains-sur-Oust in the west.
