Saint-Nicolas-de-Redon ( Breton : Sant-Nikolaz-an-Hent ) is a French municipality with 3179 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of Châteaubriant-Ancenis , belongs to the canton of Pontchâteau and was the chief town ( chef-lieu ) of the canton of Saint-Nicolas-de-Redon until 2015 . The inhabitants are called Nicolasien (ne) s .

Saint-Nicolas-de-Redon is located on the Vilaine River and the Canal de Nantes à Brest . Saint-Nicolas-de-Redon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Redon in the north and west, Sainte-Marie in the northeast, Avessac in the east, Fégréac in the south and Rieux in the southwest.
The former national route 164 and 775 run through the municipality .
