The inhabitants are called Ruffignolais (es) .

Ruffigné is located about 46 kilometers south-southeast of Rennes and about 58 kilometers north-northeast of Nantes . Ruffigné is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Teillay in the north, Rougé in the north and east, Saint-Aubin-des-Châteaux in the south and south-east, Sion-les-Mines in the south and south-west, Saint-Sulpice-des-Landes in the west and Ercé- en-Lamée in the north-west.
