La Chevallerais ( Breton : Kergaval ; Gallo : La Chevaleraè ) is a French municipality with 1549 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Châteaubriant-Ancenis and the canton of Guémené-Penfao (until 2015: canton of Nozay ). The inhabitants are called Chevalleraisiens .

geography

La Chevallerais is located about 29 kilometers north-northwest of Nantes . The Isac delimits the municipality in the south. La Chevallerais is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Grigonnais in the north, Puceul in the northeast, Saffré in the east, Héric in the south and Blain in the west.

history

In 1949/50 the community was separated from the neighboring commune of Puceul and became independent.
