Treillières (Breton: Trelier ) is a French municipality with 9219 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire . Trellières belongs to the arrondissement of Châteaubriant-Ancenis and the canton of La Chapelle-sur-Erdre . The inhabitants are called Treilliérains .
geography
Treillières is located about 14 kilometers north of the city center of Nantes , in the valley of the Gesvres river , which flows into the Erdre . Treillières is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Grandchamps-des-Fontaines in the north, La Chapelle-sur-Erdre in the east, Nantes in the south, Orvault in the west and Vigneux-de-Bretagne in the north-west.

In a document from Ludwig VI. Treillières is first mentioned in 1123. The name tilium appears as early as the 5th century .
