Petit-Auverné ( Breton : Arwerneg-Vihan ; Gallo : Petit-Auvernaé ) is a French municipality with 428 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire ; it is part of the arrondissement of Châteaubriant-Ancenis and the canton of Châteaubriant (until 2015: canton of Saint-Julien-de-Vouvantes ). The inhabitants are called Alvernes .

Petit-Auverné is located about 63 kilometers south-southeast of Rennes and about 47 kilometers northeast of Nantes am Don and its tributary Petit Don . Petit-Auverné is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Erbray in the north and northwest, Saint-Julien-de-Vouvantes in the northeast, La Chapelle-Glain in the east, Vallons-de-l'Erdre in the southeast, Grand-Auverné in the south and Moisdon-la -Rivière to the west.
