Avessac ( Breton : Avezeg , including: Plouzewi ) is a French municipality with 2476 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of Châteaubriant-Ancenis and the canton of Pontchâteau (until 2015: canton of Saint-Nicolas-de-Redon ). The inhabitants are called Avessacais .
geography
Avessac is about 80 kilometers north of Nantes . The river Vilaine limits the municipality to the north and the Don to the east. Avessac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sainte-Marie in the north and north-west, Renac in the north, La Chapelle-de-Brain in the north-east, Massérac in the east and north-east, Guémené-Penfao in the east, Plessé in the south-east, Fégréac in the south and south-west and Saint -Nicolas-de-Redon to the west.
The former Route nationale 775 runs through the municipality .
