Conquereuil ( Breton : Konkerel ; Gallo : Concreüz ) is a French municipality with 1116 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Châteaubriant-Ancenis and the canton of Guémené-Penfao . The inhabitants are called Conquereuillais .

geography

Conquereuil is located about 55 kilometers north-northwest of Nantes . Conquereuil is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Pierric in the north, Derval in the east, Marsac-sur-Don in the southeast and Guémené-Penfao in the south and west.

history

Around 951 two battles took place here ( Battle of Conquereuil ). Various parties tried to gain dominance over Brittany.
