The Redon Agglomération is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté d'agglomération in the departments of Ille-et-Vilaine and Morbihan in the region of Brittany and in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the region of Pays de la Loire . The community association was founded on April 29, 1996 and consists of 31 communities. The administrative headquarters are in Redon . A special feature is the cross-departmental and cross-regional membership of their communities.

Historical development

With effect from January 1, 2017, the municipality of Les Fougerêts joined the municipal association. Until December 31, 2017, the community association was called Communauté de communes du Pays de Redon and was a Communauté de communes . On September 18, 2017, the member communities met to rename the CC. There were three suggested names to choose from: Cap Redon (for Communauté d'agglomération du Pays de Redon), Redon Agglomération and Pays de Redon. In the first ballot, Redon Agglomération received 28 of the 56 votes, Cap Redon received 23 votes and Pays de Redon received only five votes. In the necessary runoff vote, Redon Agglomération received 31 votes and Cap Redon 25 votes. The previous Communauté de communes was also converted into the legal form of a Communauté d'agglomération with effect from January 1, 2018 .
